John Lord was born at Partington Convalescent Home, North Road, Glossop, Derbyshire,
son of Herbert Vernon Lord Marjorie Lord (nee Smith).
His parents were living at "Meadow Bank" in Glossop at the time. The birth was registered by Charles F.V. Feton in the Registration District of Glossop in the county of Derby. The Informant was H.V. Lord (father). John was later baptised at Glossop Unitarian Church, Fitzalan Street, Glossop on June 10, 1939. The Minister was H.G. Woodford. John is married (1962) to Lorna Deanna ('Denie', nee Trevelyan) an artist and retired paediatric nurse. Their children are Rachel Joanna ('Jo') Lord (teacher), married to Leo Hartas (an illustrator), living in Brighton, 3 children - Freya, Fintan, and Inigo. Katie Ruhamah Lord, living in Brighton. Corin Derry Lord, (social worker) married to John Burgess (social worker), living in Clapton Park in London, 1 child Jake and another expected any moment. John is an Illustrator/Author of children's books and Emeritus Professor at the University of Brighton (having recently retired as Professor of Illustration in 1999). John and Denie live in Ditchling, West Sussex, BN6 8TH, England (9 miles north of Brighton).
