Subject: ANNNIVERSARY MME FELLER
A certain exitement was present on that morning within the walls of
the institute. It was the 23rd of April 1951 and a nice day announced itself:
a high wind was chasing away the last clouds of a previous day rainstorm.
The anniversary of the birth of mme Feller was celebrated that year
on the 23rd as the 22nd was a Sunday.
As with previous years a commemorative service was held in the school
chapel. During the service M.F. McKergow reminded us in a speech full of
emotion the beginning's of the school and the mission started by Mme Feller.
The audience particularly enjoyed the story of "THE STOLEN BIBLE" made
interesting by the fact that in the audience were descendant's of Joe St
James.
Mrs G. Lortie charmed us with a interpretation of Psalm 23.
Mr's McKergow, Meldrum and Carrier exposed the reason for the Feller
x-students society.
After the benediction pronounced by M.Therien the assembly dispersed,
the girls with their white dresses one more beautiful than the other and
the boy's in their uniforms showing the Feller colors.
After an excellent breakfast, everyone was ready for an afternoon of
open air. The students were divided in two groups, "juniors" and
"seniors." Special events were held all depending on the age and
ability of each. In the senior group the obstacle race was enjoyed
as well as the ball game which followed.
Then it was a dash for the showers to pretty up for the evening.
The evening, a musical night of two hours where talented artists entertained
us, duos, solos and choir followed each other on the stage. Among
others there was soloist Mrs G.R. Lortie, piano solo by Mrs Henry Brouillet,
another by Ann Holden and a piano duet by Charlie Foster accompanied by
Miss Woodward. The last piano duo was by Miss Woodward and Walter
Upton. The evening ended with the playing of the national anthem.
Then the white dresses and uniforms retired each to his or her side....
After such a day of memories the school found its calm and normal routine....
The above was written by Anne Ropars in French for the 1951 year book.
I translated this at this time in view of the forthcoming Mme Feller anniverary.
